General maintenance
Professional cleaning

The lasting beauty of your carpet depends on your attention to a few simple principles of maintenance and cleaning techniques.

Carpets however do still require maintenance.
We advise you on daily maintenance, stain removal and intensive cleaning of your carpet.
Correct and regular maintenance will increase the life of a carpet and help to maintain its overall appearance.

Steps
=====
There are a few simple easy-to-follow steps.

==Step 1 :
Vacuum frequently
The best way to reduce soil accumulation and prolong the life of your carpet is to vacuum frequently.

==Step 2 :
Clean Most-Used Areas
The most-used areas of the carpet - entrances, doorways, traffic lanes, around a favourite chair, etc... - are going to collect dirt much faster than the reminder of the carpet.
Cleaning these areas when they just begin to look soiled stops the dirt from spreading to the rest of the house and can extend the time between professional cleanings.

==Step 3 :
Periodic professional cleaning
Dust and oils in the air will eventually leave a dulling film on even unused parts of the carpets.
Periodic professional cleaning of the overall carpet is recommended.
Carpets perform best when properly cleaned by a professional carpet cleaner using specially formulated cleaners developed for your carpet.

In case of doubt, always contact your local retailer.

==Stain removal
Act quickly to remove the spilt substance in order to avoid penetration and fixation.
***Greasy stains
- methylated spirits (A)
Do not apply direct to the stained area.
Using a piece of cotton wool, apply to the edges of the stain working inwards. Blot with absorbent tissue/kitchen roll.
Fabrics may darken during this process, do not worry.
Repeat if required.
Using a light soap solution on cotton wool, dampen the area and blot with tissue/kitchen roll.
Dry using hair-dryer continually moving over the damp area (this will prevent watermarking)

-Water based stains(B)
Soak up immediately using absorbent cloths (towelling) tissues or kitchen roll. Re-wet using tepid water on a small piece of sponge or cotton wool.
Blot with kitchen roll.
Repeat as necessary.
Dry with a hair-dryer keeping the dryer moving all the time, this will prevent watermarking.

***Dried-in stains (B)
Soap solution (two litres of tepid water with half teaspoon of carpet shampoo only added).
Re-wet the stained area using a soap solution applied on a piece of cotton wool. Blot using kitchen roll as above.
The final procedure on carpet after following the wetting and blotting should be as follows :
.. Place 5-6 layers of kitchen roll on the affected area and place on top a telephone directory.
..Allow to dry over 24 hours.
..This will absorb any stains in the base fibres that are likely to wick up the surface.

***Scrape or blot excess spill (C)
Freeze with ice cubes.
Shatter with blunt object such as the back of a spoon.
Vacuum ships away before they melt.
